Review: Clash of the Titans

Our hero, Sam Worthington, was found by a fisherman who had to pry him out of a waterlogged casket. We've all been there. His adoptive father immediately gives us a strong sense that he's not a fan of the current ruling structure, one where gods rule over men with impunity and disrespect. Zeus created man, and man's prayers and adoration fuel his power. His brother Hades, ruler of the underworld, is powered by man's fear. If you're out there thinking "Well, that's no way to run a universe," you're right, as the movie is about to show us. A disaster befalls Sam's family, including the fisherman poppa, and it's a disaster cooked up directly by the gods. A quest for vengeance is laid out and the film looses Sam Worthington's character, Perseus, upon a bevy of mythical creatures and awesome powers.
