Green Screen Video Production Guide

Here are some best techniques for shooting and proper lighting green-screen for your video productions. In this tutorial, I presume you have some lights, a green-screen and a camera. The rest of this tutorial will be about putting them in order.

First thing, what works well with cameras is the chroma green. Are you familiar with the 4:2:2 color space? Also RGB? Well without making things complicated, in your digital camera, most color information is stored in the green space of the color channel (G). So make sure that green-screen is the appropriate color.

1. First off: Lights

The greatest aspect of having superb separation of the subject from the green-screen is the lights in which ultimately is the key. This means that in the video coverage that you input in your editing software, the background separates well from the object.

5 Great War Movies To Watch Before You Die

War has been a theme of movies right from the earliest days when D.W. Griffith made his controversial movie, "Birth of a Nation". War has given movie makers several narratives and conflicts that make for great cinema. Some of the most memorable movies of the past few decades were about war, so here's my list of my personal favorites amongst them:

1. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Words cannot do justice to this movie, whose opening 15 minutes are arguably the most visceral in movie history. Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks, Saving Private Ryan features some of the most realistic and violent battle scenes ever filmed. It remains one of the most loved and influential war movies of all time.

Review: Clash of the Titans

Our hero, Sam Worthington, was found by a fisherman who had to pry him out of a waterlogged casket. We've all been there. His adoptive father immediately gives us a strong sense that he's not a fan of the current ruling structure, one where gods rule over men with impunity and disrespect. Zeus created man, and man's prayers and adoration fuel his power. His brother Hades, ruler of the underworld, is powered by man's fear. If you're out there thinking "Well, that's no way to run a universe," you're right, as the movie is about to show us. A disaster befalls Sam's family, including the fisherman poppa, and it's a disaster cooked up directly by the gods. A quest for vengeance is laid out and the film looses Sam Worthington's character, Perseus, upon a bevy of mythical creatures and awesome powers.

Review : The Bounty Hunter

Jenifer Aniston has piercing blue eyes. Gerard Butler clearly works out. And the soundtrack for The Bounty Hunter? Top-notch. Jerry Reed croons "She Got the Goldmine" near the opening credits; you'll be bouncing in your seat if you're a fan of the Charlie Daniels style of expository twang. But the film itself? Why, it's putrid, just putrid. Total nightmare scenario for the film itself. Kind of a total disaster on that subject, actually.

The premise is clear from the poster, title, and trailer. Butler is a bounty hunter. Aniston is his ex-wife. She skips bail (and she was only charged with a felony because something hilarious happened, she's not a murderess or an embezzler or anything), and Butler has to track her down. But wait! There are larger forces at work. She's got a lead on a huge story -- she's a crackerjack reporter -- and she just needs Butler to *TRUST* her for a few minutes. But how can he? They broke up. Their relationship was filled with a challenging rage! The best part about every romantic comedy relationship ever is how transparent everything is. It's not like the couple isn't perfect for each other. They are, naturally. If only they could both see it! And we've only got two hours to see if they can overcome their clearly contrived detestation of each other!

But back to what I was saying with the "putrid" angle. The strangest part about this "comedy" is how little "comedy" happens. There aren't any big laughs, and there are maybe three times you say "ha" or offer up a mild chuckle. I won't lie, I attempted to black out for a few minutes of the film, to no avail. It was as if the writers figured, "Eh, it's a paycheck. Throw in a punch to the private regions or two and let's wrap this thing up." Perhaps the comedy was meant to be digitally inserted later, in post-production, or when they released The Bounty Hunter in 3-D? The guy next to me fell asleep for good portions of the film. Not a ringing endorsement, though I can see potential marketing opportunities arising:

The Bounty Hunter: Enjoy a warm building, concessions, and a roof over your head!
